Reggio Pedagogy

Children exploring with objects in a water tray

Reggio pedagogy is characterized by a positive view of children. It works with the strengths rather than the weaknesses of the children. The focus is on the perceptive, exploring, and learning child—on free and individual expression without external interference. Among its goals are fostering the joy of learning, building one’s own identity, developing one’s unique personality with individual abilities, and cultivating a sense of responsibility and social competence. The pedagogical professional reinforces and accompanies the child in its “self-learning processes.” In our daycare, we offer workshops where children can examine and explore the world:

  • Structure and clarity of the space and its organization
  • Preference for natural materials and everyday objects
  • The aesthetics of the material
  • A variety of supplies
  • Photos capturing excerpts of the children’s action processes
  • Wall and booklet documentations
